Maybe somewhere along the way,
you began to believe care had to be earned.
That you had to prove your worth.
That you had to become easier,
stronger,
better,
before you could be held gently.
Let this be a quiet interruption to that belief.
For now,
nothing needs to be proven.
Nothing needs to be corrected.
Nothing needs to be made impressive.
Take a slow breath in.
And gently let it go.
Again.
A little softer this time.
Let your body stop performing.
Let your heart stop bracing.
Let your hands rest as if there is nothing left to defend.
You are not behind because you are still becoming.
You are not less because you are tender.
You are not too much because you feel.
You are not unworthy because you have needed time.

- Sit somewhere quiet and place one hand over your heart.
- Open your box slowly, without rushing.
- Hold one item from your box with your other hand.
- Take one slow breath and let your body soften.
- Say quietly, “I do not need to earn this moment.”
- Let yourself receive care without correcting, proving, or explaining.
